Claus Kaminsky (born November 7, 1959 in Hanau ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been Lord Mayor of Hanau since 2003 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1980, Kaminsky studied at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences, which he graduated in 1983 with a degree in administrative management. He then worked in the finance department of the Main-Kinzig district until 1986 . From 1986 to 1994 he worked as a trainer for the district administration. In 1994/95 he was a member of the project management of the Main-Kinzig-Kreis.

Kaminsky is married and has three children.

Kaminsky has been a member of the SPD since 1981. Between 1985 and 1989 he was a member of the Großauheim local advisory board , then a city councilor until 1995. In 1994/95 he was chairman of the local SPD parliamentary group. In 1995 Kaminsky became mayor of Hanau. After the mayor Margret Härtel was voted out of office in May 2003, he was elected successor in September 2003 with 63.8 percent of the vote and took office on November 16. In the 2009 election, Kaminsky was confirmed in office with 75.5 percent and in 2015 with 63.0 percent of the votes. In the election for the 2011 city council, Kaminsky ran for first place on the SPD list, although as Lord Mayor he cannot be a city councilor at the same time.

He is a member of several supervisory boards, including at Baugesellschaft Hanau , Hanau Beteiligungsholding GmbH , Stadtwerke Hanau GmbH , Betriebsführungsgesellschaft Hanau mbH and Hanau Marketing GmbH . He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Hanau and President of the Sparkasse and Giro Association Hesse-Thuringia .
