history

The institute was founded in 1826 on the initiative of the district administrator for the Dornberg district , Ernst Wilhelm Heim. The sponsor of this savings bank was the "Association for the establishment and further training of a savings bank for the district of Dornberg", as the municipalities of the "district" assumed a subsidiary liability obligation. The first payday took place on December 11, 1826.

Due to the administrative reforms in the state of Hesse, the name of the savings bank changed over the years. In 1848, the “savings bank in the Dornberg district” became the “Sparkasse Groß-Gerau” and then in 1904 it was renamed “Bezirks-Sparkasse”.

January 1, 1942 becomes the new name day of the Sparkasse. “Bezirks-Sparkasse” becomes today's name “Kreissparkasse Groß-Gerau”, which initially anticipates the later nationwide branch principle. The Sparkasse's division is now the political district of Groß-Gerau .

Social Commitment
