Lyrics

The lyrics of the band deal with political and socially critical topics, but also the experiences of the individual band members. The lyrics are written by singer Thallinger.

Little Something describes the theme of war and its meaning. The song is played from the first person perspective so that the listener can better empathize with the protagonist. Also, this song deals with the question of the justification of vigilante justice .

The second song, Roads to Rome, is about a broken relationship and the dark side of love . The protagonist cannot get over the loss and wants to take his own life in the further course . The music video for this song was also shot, which was financed by winning the Austrian Band Contest .

Remedy the Mess , the third song on the EP asks again about the meaning of war and bloodshed. The singer asks the audience how high the price of a possible third world war can be. The song also criticizes the war as the self-destruction of humanity . The politicians are also referred to as uncontrollable "war machines".

The last song on the EP, DFMH (pronounced: Don't Fuck My Heart ) is an anti- love song . The protagonist learns that his partner is cheating on him and breaks up with her. He says that step by step she lured him into a trap , for which he hates her.

Music video for Roads to Rome

The music video for the song Roads to Rome was very successful. The video achieved the weekly win at MTV Rookie in March 2009 and fifth place in the MyVideo Band Contest . The video shows the scenario of a breakup . which the protagonist cannot cope with and starts drinking . At the end of the video, he throws an alcohol bottle on the floor and runs away. The video was produced by Obscura Media .

Reviews

The EP received mostly positive reviews, including from Vampster and Powermetal.de . MetroStation , an American pop band , loved the music video.

  • Metrostation , an American pop band that wrote the hit Shake It, commented on the Roads To Rome video and said it was produced well. Trace Cyrus also noticed that he particularly liked the mix of clean vocals and screaming .
  • Musikreviews.de wrote that the album was an Austrian sensation, which was kicking a fist behind the ears and it will be interesting to see how long it will take to hear the five Upper Austrians on the other side of Lake Constance.
  • Metal.de wrote that the demo was surprisingly professional and assigned the music style to Melodic Metal, whereby 4 songs would not be meaningful, but only suggest the existing potential.
  • On Metal-inside.de it is said that Living Shades would be one of the best digipacks that was ever presented on the homepage, because according to critics it contains great drawings, a great songbook and lyrics. Metal-inside describes the style of music as a mix of Seether and Bullet for My Valentine . The online magazine writes about the track listing that with 4 tracks the scope would be quite short, but it contains a lot of potential.
  • Vampster wrote about the style of music the band used on Living Shades: "The band describes their style of music as melodic rock or metal, which is incomprehensible due to the growls of guitarist Putz and the sometimes hard guitar riffs. The band plays a mix Nu- and Melodic Death Metal. Otherwise the band does a very solid and decent job .... "
