The Sparkasse Fulda is the largest local regional bank in Hesse. Its business area includes the city ​​of Fulda and the district of Fulda . At 33 staffed locations (as of 2020), it offers its approx. 150,000 customers financial services in the areas of payment transactions, investments, financing, insurance, home savings and real estate brokerage.

Organization and structure

The credit institute is an institution under public law , the sponsors are the city of Fulda and the district of Fulda. The special legal framework in which the Sparkasse operates is formed on the one hand by the EU-wide Capital Adequacy Ordinance (CRR) and the German Banking Act (KWG) with numerous ordinances derived therefrom and binding regulatory requirements, on the other hand by the Hessian Savings Banks Act (HSpG) and the statutes issued by the district council and city council. The responsible authorities are the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), the Deutsche Bundesbank and the savings bank supervision at the Kassel regional council.

The legal representative of the Sparkasse is a three-person executive board. He manages the day-to-day business and is responsible for the proper business organization. In particular, the Board of Directors determines the guidelines for business policy and monitors ongoing business management. It consists of fifteen people. "Born" members are the district administrator of the district of Fulda and the mayor of the city of Fulda. They take turns chairing the Board of Directors every two years. Another eight members send the district council and city council. Five members are elected by the employees of Sparkasse Fulda.

Sparkasse Fulda reported total assets of EUR 3.904 billion in the 2019 financial year and customer deposits of EUR 3.076 billion. According to the 2019 Sparkasse Ranking List, it ranks 103rd in terms of total assets. It has 35 branches / self-service locations and employs 732 people.

Sparkasse Fulda is part of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe and thus also belongs to its liability association. He secures the existence of the institutes and ensures that they can meet all liabilities even in the event of individual savings banks becoming insolvent . The Savings Bank provides savings contracts the regional Landesbausparkasse , mutual funds of Deka and insurance of the SV Sparkasse insurance . Sparkasse Fulda works together with Deutsche Leasing in the area of leasing . The Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen performs the function of the Sparkasse central bank .

history

Adalbert von Harstall , the last Prince-Bishop of Fulda, founded a municipal advance fund in 1789. In the first half of the 19th century, numerous small savings banks were established in the Rhön and Huenfeld regions . The Sparkasse Fulda in its current form emerged on April 1, 1998 from a merger of the Kreissparkasse Fulda and the Städtische Sparkasse and Landesleihbank Fulda.
