Heiko Wingenfeld

Heiko Wingenfeld (born October 4, 1973 in Fulda ) is a German lawyer and local politician of the CDU . He has been Lord Mayor of the city of Fulda since August 2015 .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1993 at the Marianum grammar school in Fulda, Wingenfeld studied law and political science at the universities in Trier , Lyon , Heidelberg and Cape Town . In 1998 he passed the first state examination in law. The following year he took part in a master's program at the University of the Western Cape , from which he completed a Master of International and Human Rights Law . From 2000 to 2001 he worked on the research project “Criminal Justice and the GDR Past” at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 2001 he was at the HU with the theme The public debate on the criminal case for DDR injustice to the doctor of law doctorate . After his legal clerkship in Hesse and passing the second state examination in 2004, he worked as a lawyer at Hengeler Mueller in Frankfurt am Main until 2006 .

From 2006 to 2015 Wingenfeld was the first district councilor of the Fulda district . On March 15, 2015, he was elected Lord Mayor of Fulda with 66.6% of the votes cast; the opposing candidates Birgit Kömpel ( SPD ) and Ralf Zwengel ( Greens ) received 22.7% and 10.7% of the vote, respectively. On August 15, 2015, he succeeded Gerhard Möller as Lord Mayor.

Heiko Wingenfeld is married and has three children.
