Georg Antoni

Georg Heinrich Dietrich Antoni (born February 20, 1862 in Linden ; † July 5, 1945 in Essen ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CVP, center ). From 1894 to 1930 he was Lord Mayor of the city of Fulda .

Life

origin

Antoni was the son of the director of the royal gas works in Hannover-Linden, Stefan Antoni, and his wife Anna née Nolte.

Career

Antoni attended elementary school and pre-school in Hanover from 1869 to 1871 and the Lyceum II grammar school in Hanover from 1872 to 1877. From 1878 to 1882 he attended the Josephinum Hildesheim high school , where he passed the Abitur. At the draft he was found unfit for duty. From 1882 to 1886 he studied law and economics at the University of Würzburg and graduated with magna cum laude. From 1886 to 1889 he was in various judicial and administrative authorities and passed the second state examination in 1889 with grade 1 as the seventh best of 193 candidates. On August 15, 1890, he established himself as a lawyer in Schweinfurt. In January 1894 he was elected Lord Mayor of Fulda and on April 4, 1894 he was introduced to the office. He was re-elected several times before he retired on April 1, 1930. After retiring, he moved to Essen.

family

He was of Catholic denomination and his first marriage was Eva, nee Mohr (born November 22, 1864 in Mainz, † August 4, 1906 in Fulda), the daughter of the watchmaker Ludwig Mohr. In 1908 he married Anna nee Wilhelmine nee Vester (born September 11, 1875 in Essen-Altendorf; † October 1, 1961 in Essen-Bredeney), the daughter of the mill owner Wilhelm Vester.

Municipal Parliament

In 1919 he joined the CVP and thus became a member of the center in 1921. From 1899 to 1925 he was part of the constituency of the Fulda and from 1926 to 1929 for the constituency circles Fulda Hünfeld and the municipal parliament Kassel on. There he was a member of the main committee from 1899 to 1906, 1911, from 1913 to 1915, from 1917 to 1922 and 1925. In 1901 and 1907 he was a member of the state committee. In 1920 he was President of the Municipal Parliament.
