The Savings Banks Association of Bavaria is the umbrella organization and the central service provider for the savings banks in Bavaria . He represents their interests, supports and advises them. With its Sparkassenakademie Bayern , it also offers an extensive training and further education program.

The association is a member of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association with the twelve other German savings bank associations . It is based in Munich . Ulrich Netzer has been president since May 2014 .
history
In 1908 the savings bank associations Palatinate, Upper Palatinate, Upper Bavaria, Lower Bavaria and Swabia merged to form a regional association . Subsequently, the savings bank associations Lower Franconia and Middle Franconia and Upper Franconia joined this regional association. In 1919 the regional association merged with the Giroverband Bavarian Savings Banks founded in 1914 . In 1925 it was renamed the Bayerischer Sparkassen- und Giroverband (BSGV) , which in 1933 became a public corporation through the enactment of the Bavarian savings bank regulations . In 1997 the name was changed to Sparkassenverband Bayern (SVB).

In Bavaria there are 64 savings banks with 2,424 branches and 37,395 employees. The association of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe Bayern also includes a. the Bayerische Landesbank (BayernLB) , the Bayerische Landesbausparkasse (LBS Bayern) and the Versicherungskammer Bayern (VKB).
