history

The Sparkasse der Stadt Landsberg was founded on October 26th, 1834 and started business on April 1st, 1835. Payments were only possible at certain times in the city administration's premises. The new facility for interest-bearing capital investments was used so intensively by residents in town and country that in 1837 the circle of investors was limited to the urban area. The aim was to prevent “interest gains from non-Landsbergers”. In 1843 the deposits had grown to 200,000 guilders, held by 1,222 savers. In 1871 the credits were converted to the new Reich currency, the mark . In 1908 the Sparkasse switched to an account system in its bookkeeping. In 1916, the institute started giro and check transactions. In 1930 the first branch of what is now Stadtsparkasse Landsberg a / Lech was opened in Schondorf am Ammersee . After the Second World War and the currency reform, a strong expansion in business began in 1948 with the emergence of the economic miracle.

In 1953 the Stadtsparkasse Landsberg merged with the Marktsparkasse Dießen to form the Stadt- und Kreissparkasse Landsberg-Dießen . The sponsor was the “Zweckverband Sparkasse Landsberg-Dießen”, to which the city of Landsberg (share: 50 percent), the district of the same name (20 percent) and the market of Dießen am Ammersee (30 percent) belong. In the 1970s, increased business led to the expansion of the main office in the center of Landsberg, the first time in 1972 and again seven years later. At its 150th anniversary in 1984, the bank had total assets of DM 889 million , held deposits of DM 698 million and granted loans of DM 663 million. 298 employees in 22 branches took care of business transactions. In 1986 the balance sheet total exceeded the mark of one billion DM, nine years later it exceeded two billion DM.

Since 1990 the institute has been called Sparkasse Landsberg-Dießen today . In 1991 the local branch of Fürst Fugger-Babenhausen Bank KG in Augsburg was taken over, which the bank ceded for strategic business reasons due to its future focus on business with wealthy private customers. In 1992, the Sparkasse funded the construction of the exit from the cavern garage to the main square in Landsberg with half of the financial contribution. After the turn of the millennium, further structural roundings were made at the main location. In 2003 the city of Landsberg sold the former administration building next to it to the Sparkasse. After conversion and renovation in 2003/2004, Sparkasse Landsberg-Dießen moved into the building at Hauptplatz 1 in 2004. The Sparkasse headquarters is now next to the medieval Schmalzturm , whose premises are also used. In 2006 there was another opportunity to expand their headquarters by purchasing a neighboring building. It was expanded into a real estate center.

In 2007, eight savings banks in the region around Augsburg, including the Sparkasse Landsberg-Dießen, founded the company "S International Business" in Augsburg, which ensures that outsourced foreign business is handled competently . At the celebration of its 175th anniversary in 2009, the Sparkasse had total assets of 1.51 billion euros, liabilities to customers of 1.04 billion euros and loans to non-banks of 0.94 billion euros on its books. 418 employees in 29 business outlets, including self-service offices, were involved in business transactions.
