Doris Baumgartl

Doris Baumgartl (* 1962 in Munich ) is a German local politician (Independent Citizens' Association, UBV). Since May 1, 2020 she has been Lord Mayor of the large district town of Landsberg am Lech .

Education and professional career

Baumgartl studied political science for two semesters after graduating from high school, but then turned to the study of public administration and graduated with a degree in economics. She began to work professionally for the city ​​of Munich in the areas of human resources, municipal clinics and the philharmonic orchestra. She then moved to the municipal clinics with the areas of marketing and public relations. In 2007 she moved to Landsberg am Lech, where she supported her husband in the medical practice.

Political career

In 2007 Baumgartl became a member of the UBV (Independent Citizens for Landsberg eV), with the aim of running for the city council. She has been a member of the city council since 2008 and immediately got involved in the city's internet presence and the digitization of the city administration. In 2014 she took over the office of 2nd mayor. She is a consultant for kindergartens and crèches.

In the 2020 local elections in Bavaria, she was elected Lord Mayor of Landsberg am Lech in a runoff election on March 29, 2020. It prevailed against the incumbent mayor Mathias Neuner with 66.8% . Baumgartl is the first woman to hold the position of Lord Mayor in Landsberg am Lech.

She designed her election campaign with the following topics:

  • cheap building land and cheap apartments for low-income families
  • develop and build new residential areas
  • Sufficient shopping opportunities, kindergartens, social facilities, playgrounds
  • affordable kindergartens and day-care centers

Baumgartl is married and has two children.
