history

Kreissparkasse Augsburg can refer to a number of predecessors. Its direct forerunner is the "Sparkassa institution of the royal court district of Zusmarshausen", founded on July 16, 1855 and based in Dinkelscherben . The first board member was Pastor Franz Xaver Egger. Zusmarshausen became its seat in 1862 and remained so until 1936. The Sparkasse headquarters was set up in Augsburg. The name "Bezirkssparkasse Zusmarshausen", which has been used since 1919, or from 1935 "Bezirkssparkasse Augsburg-Land", gave way to the current company in 1939 .

The first savings bank in the Augsburg district, however, took place earlier, namely in 1826 in the Göggingen district court. This “savings fund” in the royal Bavarian district court of Göggingen therefore also has the status of a “forerunner savings bank” of today's Kreissparkasse Augsburg.

The northern part of the district falls under the former jurisdiction of the Wertinger Sparkasse. The origin of this sister savings bank is in 1845. Another forerunner is the "Sparcassa-Anstalt" for the Schwabmünchen market, which was founded in 1853.

After the Second World War , the Sparkasse continued to grow, which was also influenced by the regional reform in Bavaria in the 1980s. The district of Augsburg was enlarged by areas from the district of Wertingen and the area of ​​the district of Schwabmünchen . In 1976 the Kreissparkasse received six branches in the northern district area from the Kreissparkasse Wertingen.
