history

In 1831 the royal government recommended the Deggendorf regional court to set up a savings bank, which the city representatives of Deggendorf, Hengersberg and Plattling refused to do. In 1841 the government of Lower Bavaria finally approved the "establishment of a savings bank in Deggendorf". The Sparkasse Osterhofen opened on July 2, 1841, the Sparkasse in Hengersberg followed on November 24, 1841, and the Deggendorfer Sparkasse opened on February 1, 1842. The fourth was Sparkasse Plattling on April 1, 1884. The statutes stipulated that the savings bank should be open to all residents of the Deggendorf district court.

In 1937 the Hengersberger and the Deggendorfer Sparkasse merged to form the "Stadt- und Bezirkssparkasse Deggendorf-Hengersberg" association, in 1973 the Sparkasse Osterhofen and Plattling merged to form the "Sparkasse Plattling-Osterhofen". The two above-mentioned associations were merged in 1993 to form what is now the "Sparkasse Deggendorf".

Historically, in 1975 the idea and realization of a mobile branch in a bus that drove the entire district should be highlighted. Payments in and out were thus possible across the district. For security reasons, the driver had to report a password to the headquarters every hour by radio.

Also worth mentioning is the concept of the car switch ("Drive In") implemented in 1977. In extended opening times, all financial transactions that were common at the time could be carried out directly from the car.

After 7010 guilders deposits by 64 customers in 1841, Sparkasse Deggendorf now has 51,833 customers and 1.246 billion euros in deposits in 2011, of which 1.045 billion euros are issued as loans.
