The church is one of Fischer's earliest independent buildings of remarkable originality. The title Basilica minor was given to it in 1983 by Pope John Paul II . In terms of design, it is a wall pillar church . This conventional southern German type is varied by Fischer with off-side chapels on an oval floor plan, a reminiscence of the curved architecture of Bohemia and Moravia, which Fischer got to know during his apprenticeship. The congenial furnishings of the Asam brothers give the monastery church an extraordinarily splendid, almost lavish spatial impression.
- Pilgrimage chapel Maria, Refuge of sinners : The chapel is located directly opposite the Asambasilika, it was built during the Thirty Years War as thanks for the rescue from the Swedes and consecrated in 1640.
