Haardorf is a church village belonging to the town of Osterhofen in the Lower Bavarian district of Deggendorf . The place with approx. 300 inhabitants lies on the Danube at approx. 310 meters above sea level.

The townscape is characterized by farms as well as the St. Martin's branch church, built in 1497, restored in the Baroque style after a fire in 1690 and enlarged in 1773, and the village green planted with linden trees . A new settlement was developed around 1960 on a former Roman protective wall, the Mühlberg.

history

The first documented mention of Haardorf comes from the year 1148. There the place is mentioned as a location for the vineyards of the Niederalteich monastery . In the upper village there is a round tower hill ( Haardorf tower hill ) on which the Kreuzberg pilgrimage church, completed in 1259, is located. The pilgrimage was supervised by the Osterhofen monastery . After its dissolution in 1783, Haardorf was temporarily a parish, but was downgraded to an exposition in 1818. The medieval miraculous image has been preserved to this day and can be visited for prayer or viewing.
