Willing is a district of the city of Osterhofen in the Lower Bavarian district of Deggendorf .

location

It is located in the valley of the Vils about nine kilometers southwest of Osterhofen. The village connects seamlessly to Göttersdorf.

history

Around 757, four residents of Wilbach subject to interest gave their goods with the permission of Duke Tassilo III. the Niederaltaich monastery . The place has been called Willing since the 13th century. In 1259 and 1262 a Dietrich de Willing appeared several times as a witness.

Later Willing came to rule Göttersdorf. Around 1600 the Lords of Lindten built a chapel here and erected their burial site there. In 1855 Willing had 15 houses.

From an ecclesiastical point of view, it was originally a branch of Galgweis and since 1866 of Gergweis . In 1899 the architect Johann Baptist Schott built the neo-Gothic church of St. Vitus, and in 1900 Bishop Michael von Rampf built the Willing branch . In 1921 Bishop Sigismund Felix raised Baron von Ow-Felldorf Willing to a parish .

On January 1, 1972, Willing came to the town of Osterhofen with the municipality of Göttersdorf as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

Trivia

There is a castle stable about 550 meters southeast of the church . The Jawa Club Willing organizes grass track races on the local 400 meter long track for the prize of the city of Osterhofen.
