Obergessenbach is a district of the city of Osterhofen in the Lower Bavarian district of Deggendorf .

The village of Obergessenbach is located in the Gäuboden on the edge of the Forstharter mountain ridge about five kilometers southwest of Osterhofen on the state road 2115.
history
Obergessenbach in the Hofmark Raffelsdorf belonged in the ducal and curb-Bavarian times to the chairmanship of Gessenbach, which was located in the Osterhofen regional court , but was subordinate to the Vilshofen regional court . Since 1821, the place was part of the Langenamming community, which was newly formed that year.
The Obergessenbach branch was established in 1914 by the Passau bishop Sigismund Felix Freiherr von Ow-Felldorf . Since 1964 it has been incorporated into the Altenmarkt parish association .
Obergessenbach and the municipality of Langenamming came to the city of Osterhofen on January 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
Attractions
The most impressive building is the neo-baroque church of St. Josef, built in 1912 by the architect Johann Baptist Schott .
