location

Wisselsing is located in the Gäuboden on State Road 2114 about two kilometers west of Osterhofen.

history

Finds from the Hallstatt period point to the early settlement of the area. The name of the place goes back to the personal name Wizzo. Heinricus de Wizzensign appeared as a witness in a tradition of Niederaltaich Abbey in 1249 . In 1273, Roffel Friederich de Wizzensing was again named a Niederaltaich feudal man in Wisselsing. The tax register of 1464 mentions Wisselsing as a place belonging to the Osterhofen nursing court. Most of the goods were owned by Osterhofen Monastery .

In 1599 there was the chairmanship of Wisselsing in the Osterhofen office. In addition to Wisselsing, the chairmanship also included Linzing, Kälbermühl and Unterviehhausen. In 1752, Wisselsing was next to Osterhofen and Ettling one of the three official seats of the Osterhofen Regional Court.

In 1808 the newly created tax district Wisselsing included the two sections Wisselsing and Niedermünchsdorf . The rural community of Wisselsing was formed in 1821. It came from the Deggendorf Regional Court in 1838 to the newly established Osterhofen Regional Court and belonged to this when the Vilshofen District Office was rebuilt .

On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Wisselsing, which, in addition to Wisselsing, included the villages of Haid, Kälbermühl, Klostermühl, Linzing and Neu-Wisselsing, was dissolved in the course of the regional reform in Bavaria and integrated into the city of Osterhofen.

From an ecclesiastical point of view, Wisselsing was originally a branch of the parish of Kirchdorf . In 1865 it became a branch and on March 21, 1909, the then Bishop of Passau, Sigismund Felix von Ow-Felldorf, raised the branch to a parish.

Attractions

  • The baroque parish church of St. Peter and Paul was built from 1692 and consecrated on October 26, 1726. The spire of the tower is from a later time. Before Wisselsing only had a wooden chapel, which was demolished in 1824.
