Oberpöring is a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Deggendorf and the seat of the Oberpöring administrative community .

The municipality of Oberpöring is located in the Danube Forest region on the Isar on the southern edge of the Gäuboden .
Community structure
Oberpöring has six officially named parts of the municipality : Alttiefenweg , Bürg , Gneiding , Niederpöring , Oberpöring and Oberpöringermoos . The districts Niederpöring and Oberpöring exist .
history
Until the 19th century
Oberpöring belonged to the Counts of Yrsch . The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark , which the counts had taken over from the barons of Closen on Arnstorf and Gern towards the end of the 18th century. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 . In 1834 Oberpöring Castle and the chapel were torn down.
Incorporations
On July 1, 1972, the previously independent neighboring community of Niederpöring was incorporated. On May 1, 1978, parts of the dissolved community Ettling with the place Gneiding were added.
Population development
In the period from 1988 to 2018, the community grew from 1,013 to 1,169 by 156 inhabitants or 15.4%.

The first mayor is Thomas Stoiber. In the 2014 local elections he achieved 62.13% of the validly cast votes. In the local elections on March 15, 2020 , he was re-elected 1st mayor with 83.25 percent in the first ballot, with no opposing candidate.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 1998, according to official statistics, there were no employees in the manufacturing sector and no employees in the trade and transport sector at the place of work. In other economic areas, 14 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 384 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were 31 companies in the manufacturing sector and four in the construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 67 farms with an agriculturally used area of 1194 ha, of which 1155 ha were arable land and 37 ha were permanent green space.
