Iggensbach is a municipality in the Deggendorf district in Lower Bavaria . The place of the same name is both the capital and the seat of the municipal administration.

history

Until the church is planted

The place was first mentioned in 947 as "Itenespah". From 1130 to around 1600 the place was owned by Bavarian dukes, since the 15th century the place has been run as Hofmark . The parish church was built in the 14th century. Iggensbach then belonged to the Straubing Rent Office and the Hengersberg Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Administrative community

From 1978 to 1989 Iggensbach belonged to the administrative community Schöllnach . Iggensbach has been an independent municipality again since January 1st, 1990.

Churches

  • The neo-baroque parish church Maria Namen was built after a fire in 1885. The neo-baroque interior dates from 1922. One of the bells, a so-called beehive bell , is dated 1144. This makes it the second oldest dated bell in Germany after the Lullus bell .
  • The Handlab pilgrimage church is located in the Handlab district in the Iggensbach community. The pilgrimage church is the "St. Corona and the Queen of Heaven ”. Castles and Palaces

  • In the picturesque district of Schöllnstein, the castle ruins of Schöllnstein can be found on a tongue-shaped protrusion. In 1369, Leupolt von Hals enfeoffed the Puchberger brothers zu Engelsberg with the goods at Sigwerting (Sieberding) and an associated mountain on which the Schellenstein Fortress was built in the same century. This comprised 15 rooms, 3 cellars and a horse stable for 9 horses. In 1485 the castle was divided into Niederstein and Oberschöllnstein. In 1550 the castle became the property of the Spritzenstein brothers, after which the owners changed in quick succession. In 1700 the castle was conquered and partially destroyed during the peasant uprising. In 1742 it was conquered by the Austrians and partially destroyed, since then it has remained uninhabited and was largely torn down in 1768. The then owner Count Raimund Fugger had the castle torn down in 1850, only the castle wall remained.
