Schaufling is a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Deggendorf and a member of the Lalling administrative community .

Community structure
The community Schaufling consists of 26 community parts, the parish village Schaufling, the villages Ensbach , Hainstetten , Klessing , Muckenthal , Nadling , Nemering , Penk , Rusel , Schützing , Sicking , Wotzmannsdorf and Wulreiching , the hamlets Böhaming , Dietmannsberg , Edhof , Ensmannsberg , Freiberg , Geßnach , Martinstetten , Ruselabsatz , Unterberg , Urlading and Wetzenbach , the sanatorium a.Hausstein and the wasteland of Ragin . There are three districts, Schaufling, Lalling and Urlading.
history
Until the church is planted
Schaufling was settled from the nearby Niederalteich monastery and was first mentioned in a document in 1298. The place belonged to the Rentamt Straubing and to the regional court Hengersberg of the Electorate of Bavaria . The largest landlord was the Niederalteich monastery until 1803. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , the municipality of Nadling was created with the municipal edict of 1818 , which was renamed Schaufling on August 17, 1937.
Incorporations
The current community emerged on April 1, 1971 from the former community Schaufling and the northern part of the former community Urlading. The community has been a member of the Lalling administrative community since 1978 .
Population development
In the period from 1988 to 2018, the municipality grew from 1,208 to 1,561 by 353 inhabitants or 29.2%.

Asklepios Clinic Schaufling
The foundation stone of the clinic was laid on October 7, 1905. A lung sanatorium was operated on the Rusel from 1908 to 1975. At the beginning of the 1980s, renovations and extensions to the former lung sanatorium began. In 1987, the Bavaria-Klinik-Gruppe bought the clinic and since then has operated a rehabilitation center for neurology, orthopedics, geriatrics and cardiology for 350 inpatients in the building. The rehab clinic is the largest employer in the Lalling administrative community.

The first mayor is Robert Bauer (SPD). He prevailed in 2014 with 54.75 percent of the vote against Josef Stangl (CSU / Independent Citizens, 45.25 percent). Bauer's predecessor Hermann Hackl (CSU / Independent Citizens), who had been in office for a good 13 years, was no longer available for another term of office. The second mayor is Richard Anzenberger (SPD).
In the local elections on March 15, 2020 , Bauer was re-elected 1st mayor with 92.41 percent in the first ballot without an opponent.

church
In 1891 Schaufling became the branch of the Catholic parish in Seebach . In 1986 it was raised to an independent parish . In the meantime, Schaufling belongs to the HuSchaLa parish association alongside Lalling and Hunding.
Parish church
The parish church of Fourteen Holy Helpers was built in the neo-Romanesque style. Construction began in 1887 and was finished in 1889.
Parish center
The parish center was built in 1992–1993 right next to the parish church and elementary school. The new parish hall is equipped with a large parish hall, small parish hall, teen group room, youth room for Catholic rural youth (cellar), parish office and pastor's house. The community library also found its place in it.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 1998, according to official statistics, there were no employees at the place of work in the manufacturing industry or in trade and transport who were subject to social insurance contributions. In other economic sectors, 448 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 470 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were 14 companies in the manufacturing sector and two in the construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 95 farms with an agriculturally used area of 985 ha, of which 272 ha were arable land and 706 ha were permanent green space.
The Asklepios Klinik Schaufling , which opened in 1999 after the bankruptcy of the former Bavaria Klinik, employed around 300 people in 2012.
