In 1823 the savings institution Städtische Sparkasse Schweinfurt was founded and housed in the town hall . In 1837 the Sparkasse was founded with the Gerolzhofen business area and in 1839 a Sparkasse with the Werneck business area .

In 1934 the Werneck and Schweinfurt district funds were merged to form the Schweinfurt district savings bank, Schweinfurt became the main office and Werneck the main branch office. In 1935 the Städtische Sparkasse Schweinfurt moved from the town hall to the historic building complex Schranne on Roßmarkt. In 1949 the business area of ​​the Kreissparkasse Schweinfurt was expanded. From 1950 to 1953, the Schranne, which was partially destroyed in the war, was rebuilt and rebuilt. In 1964 the main office building of the Kreissparkasse Schweinfurt am Jägersbrunnen was expanded.

In 1973 the Kreissparkasse Schweinfurt merged with the Sparkasse Gerolzhofen and in 1975 the Stadtlauringen and Oberlauringen offices were taken over, both times as part of the Bavarian regional reform .
