history

The history of the bank goes back to a foundation by Prince Karl von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen . With a deposit of 10,000 guilders , he founded the savings and loan fund for the Principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen on November 4, 1834 . The Sparkasse opened its doors for the first time on February 7, 1835. In 1849 the cash register acquired the west wing of the estate building in Sigmaringen. To this day, the headquarters of the Landesbank Kreissparkasse is located in this historic building on Leopoldplatz, which is now completely owned by it.

Due to political upheavals in 1850, when the Hohenzollern Lands joined Prussia , the principalities of Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen were combined to form the Prussian “Sigmaringen District”, and the business area expanded. In 1952, Hohenzollern became part of the newly founded state of Baden-Württemberg.

In 1854 the foundation's capital was increased by the equivalent of 20,000 euros from the Prussian state treasury. At that time the institute was called Spar- und Leihkasse für die Hohenzollerische Lande . In 1855 cash receipts were introduced. In 1889 these, together with the savings deposits, were made secure . As early as 1911, the Sparkasse owned 31 takings .

The effects of the First World War forced the Sparkasse to issue emergency money in 1918. At the height of inflation in 1923 the balance sheet total was 367,000 trillion marks. This deficiency was remedied by the currency reform in 1924 . The first booking machine was purchased in 1927. In 1930 the Sparkasse was renamed again, this time as Hohenzollerische Landesbank Spar- und Leihkasse . Due to the currency reform of 1948 , the German mark was introduced on June 21 of this year in the three western occupation zones of Germany.

In 1956 the balance sheet total reached the DM billion mark for the first time.

The rebuilding and enlargement of the branch in Gammertingen in 1959 resulted in the transformation into a main branch. In the following year, the Ostrach branch moved to its new building. In 1963 the reconstruction of the main office in Sigmaringen began. On September 20, 1965, it began operating in new rooms. The coin business was introduced in 1964 and electronic data processing in 1967. In the same year the name was changed to Hohenzollerische Landesbank Spar- und Girokasse .

In the course of the district reform in Baden-Württemberg in 1973 , the business area changed significantly. Almost half of the business area, the one in the former Hohenzollern-Hechingen, was lost. Large areas from the Württemberg region of the former Saulgau district savings bank were added. The former Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen remained the business area. The new field of activity was created with the five regional head offices in Bad Saulgau , Gammertingen, Mengen , Ostrach and Sigmaringen, whereupon in 1974 the name was changed to the current name Hohenzollerische Landesbank - Kreissparkasse Sigmaringen .

In 1983 and 1984, ATMs were introduced in Sigmaringen, Saulgau, Mengen and Gammertingen. As a result, the offices were expanded and modernized between 1984 and 1989. In 1997, after a two-year renovation period, the Sparkasse Forum was opened in the Hofgarten in Sigmaringen. In the same year, the new building and renovation of the estate began. Since it was officially opened in 1999, it now offers space for 210 employees.

In 2004 the new regional headquarters opened in Gammertingen. A separate insurance agency was introduced in 2006. The new regional headquarters in Bad Saulgau was opened in 2007 after a general renovation and renovation.

In 2009 the Landesbank Kreissparkasse celebrated its 175th anniversary with several events and the introduction of the Landesbank Kreissparkasse Sparkasse Foundation , a foundation with an initial endowment of one million euros.
