history

On September 1, 1848, the savings and loan fund of the Paderborn district began its business activities. It grew steadily in the further course of the 19th century with careful business policy in the context of its economic environment. On October 1, 1903, the municipal Sparkasse Paderborn was founded. In the 71 financial years of its independent existence up to 1973, this developed into a powerful credit institution in competition with the Kreissparkasse Paderborn. On January 1, 1974, the Paderborn District Assembly and the Paderborn City Council decided to found a Savings Bank Association and to merge the Stadtsparkasse Paderborn and the Kreissparkasse Paderborn. The Sparkasse Paderborn formed in this way then took on the Kreissparkasse Büren in a second step after the regional reform on July 1, 1975. On April 1st, 2002 the merger with the Stadtsparkasse Marsberg took place. On January 1, 2012, Sparkasse Paderborn merged with Sparkasse Detmold to form Sparkasse Paderborn-Detmold .
