history
On September 22nd, 1846, the Oberamtssparkasse was founded in Göppingen and started operating on October 14th. The Oberamtssparkasse Geislingen is founded on September 25, 1851. In 1934, the Oberamtssparkassen were given the name "Kreissparkasse". The 1938 law on the redistribution of the country extends the district of Göppingen to include parts of Geislingen and Aichelberg, Zell and others, Roßwälden, Weiler, Adelberg, Baiereck, Reichenbach uR and Winzingen. The Kreissparkasse of Göppingen and Geislingen are merged to form the Kreissparkasse Göppingen. In 1996 the Kreissparkasse Göppingen celebrates its 150th anniversary. The existing Sparkasse tower, a “landmark” of the city of Göppingen that can be seen from afar, was expanded by an auxiliary building in 2009 and modernized by 2014.
