On April 1, 1970, the public insurers founded the ÖRAG Rechtsschutzversicherungs-AG with the aim of being able to offer the customers of the public insurers comprehensive legal protection. The legal protection service center started on January 1st, 1992 with three employees to help customers, lawyers and employees of the regional offices quickly and unbureaucratically. At the same time, ÖRAG Service GmbH (today Deutsche Assistance Service GmbH) was founded. To this day, it offers public insurers and their sales partners assistance services for a wide variety of insurance products.
