Association of Public Insurers

In the Association of Public Insurers , the organizing public insurer of Germany nationwide. This includes 10 primary insurance groups with various joint ventures.

On behalf of the group, the association is the communication body to the network partners of the public insurers, the companies and institutions of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe . It also represents the interests of its members in the insurance industry associations and offers its members reinsurance protection.

history

The Association of Public Life Insurance Institutions was founded in 1911 as a corporation under public law in Berlin (largely driven by Wolfgang Kapp ). In 1922 liability and accident reinsurance was started. In 1926 the Association of Public Accident and Liability Insurance Agencies was founded, which had its headquarters in Berlin and was run in personal union with the Association of Public Life Insurance Agencies. In 1947 the office of the association started work in the building of the Provincial Insurance of the Rhine Province. In 1949 the head office was relocated to Düsseldorf. The two associations were merged in 1966 to form the Association of Public Life and Liability Insurers. In 1996 they merged with the Association of Public Fire Insurers to form the Association of Public Insurers. In 2014, the Association of Public Insurers opened an office on the premises of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association in Berlin. In doing so, he creates proximity to the savings banks and political decision-makers. In 2016, the Association of Public Insurers has an office in Brussels in close proximity to the EU Commission and the EU Council in order to strengthen the representation of interests at European level. In 2018, the public insurers in Braunschweig decide to separate reinsurance business and association work. The professional association will be transferred to the legal framework customary in the branch of a registered association based in Berlin.

The Association of Public Insurers has its headquarters in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Brussels. It is a registered association. The Presidium is the association law board of the Association of Public Insurers e. V.
