Wolfgang Breuer (Manager)

Wolfgang Breuer (born February 13, 1962 in Cologne ) is a German insurance manager. He has been chairman of the board of Provinzial NordWest since 2015 and of the Hamburger Feuerkasse since 2016 . As a functionary, he heads the Association of Public Insurers .

Career

Breuer studied business administration at the University of Cologne between 1981 and 1987 , after which he obtained his doctorate in economics and social sciences at the Institute for Transport Sciences at the university. In 1990 he joined the Gerling Group , where he was on the board of individual service companies from 2002. In 2007 he was promoted to the board of the holding company of the group and also became chairman of the board of HDI Direkt Versicherung AG . In 2011, he switched to the insurance branch of the financial services provider Wüstenrot & Württembergische , where he was given a seat on the group board and held board positions at Württembergische Versicherung and Württembergische Lebensversicherung . At the beginning of 2015 he moved to the head of Provinzial NordWest as the successor to Ulrich Rüther , and he also took over the chairmanship of the subsidiaries Westfälische Provinzial Versicherung and Provinzial NordWest Lebensversicherung .

In 2015, after being appointed Chairman of the Board of Provinzial NordWest Holding, Breuer was accepted as a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Public Insurers. After he had meanwhile been promoted to deputy chairman there, he was elected as the successor to Hermann Kasten as the new president of the interest group for public insurers in November 2019 .
