The Württembergische Versicherung AG is an insurance company with headquarters in Stuttgart . It operates the property and casualty insurance business. Together with Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG and other companies, it forms the Württembergische Versicherungsgruppe . Both are subsidiaries of the financial services group Wüstenrot & Württembergische AG .

The company was founded in 1828 under the name Württembergische Privat-Feuer-Versicherungs-Gesellschaft as the first private property insurance company in southern Germany. The name Württembergische Feuerversicherung was used until the name was changed in 1991.

Since 1923 there have been close business relationships with the Allgemeine Rentenanstalt (ARA) Stuttgart, which was founded in 1833 as the first pension insurance company in Germany. With the formation of the Württemberg Insurance Group in 1991, ARA became Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG .
