The insurance group BGV / Badische Versicherungen , based in Karlsruhe, offers insurance protection for private and corporate customers from all over Germany.

The Badische Gemeinde-Versicherungs-Verband (BGV), founded in 1923, is the market leader in Baden as a specialist insurer for municipalities.

For private and corporate customers, the group offers property , accident , liability , motor vehicle and legal expenses insurance as well as individual solutions for the areas of old-age provision, financial services and health insurance in cooperation with cooperation partners.

The company employs around 700 people and around 40 trainees. With a premium volume of around EUR 316 million and more than 1.6 million contracts, the BGV is one of the largest insurers in the area of ​​the former Baden. The group includes the subsidiaries BGV-Versicherung AG and Badische Rechtsschutzversicherung AG. The BGV customer centers in Heidelberg , Mannheim , Mosbach , Karlsruhe , Offenburg , Freiburg i. On March 27, 1923, the municipal fire insurance association was launched. The eight communities of Bretten , Bruchsal , Eberbach , Heidelberg , Karlsruhe , Kehl as well as Mannheim and Pforzheim took on the sponsorship and thus responsibility . The first task of the association should be to insure the community's own dangers against fire. A short time later, the municipal fire insurance association became the Badische Gemeinde-Versicherungs-Verband (BGV).

In 1952, the BGV administered 20,596 contracts with 52 employees.

All over Baden , cities and municipalities, rural districts, numerous municipal administration and special purpose associations as well as municipal companies form the basis of the association's business. There are now over 800 members. These determine its tasks as well as the type and scope of insurance cover. The BGV has continually expanded its range of insurance products through participations in start-ups and cooperation agreements.
