The business area includes the Free State of Saxony . The Sparkassen-Versicherung Sachsen cooperates locally with the Saxon savings banks.

history

Around 1700 Dresden citizens set up a fire fund as the original form of insurance for Saxony. August the Strong is considered to be the actual founder of the first public insurance in Saxony . He awarded on April 5, 1729 the "mandate for the establishment of a general fire-casse". The “Brand-Casse” was supposed to ensure that Saxony's citizens do not become impoverished by the elemental forces of fire, water and weather.

In 1919, Saxony's savings banks founded the “Public Life Insurance Company of the Saxon Savings Banks” (ÖVA). Christian Eberle , then President of the Saxon Savings Banks and Giro Association, came up with the “Allfinanz” idea, which is still successful today, of offering savings and insurance together. By the Second World War, ÖVA Sachsen developed into the largest public life insurer in Germany.

In 1945 the Soviet Military Administration (SMAD) banned private insurance. The insurance was transferred to the newly created monopoly institution - later the State Insurance of the GDR .

In 1992 the Saxon savings banks together with the public insurers of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg founded the Sparkassen-Versicherung Sachsen, thereby reviving the old tradition.

In 1998 the architecturally remarkable company headquarters in Dresden-Kaditz was inaugurated at the address An der Flutrinne 12 .
