The Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau is run as an independent municipal commercial enterprise and is a non-profit institution under public law . Seats are in Offenburg and Lahr . The Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau is the largest credit institute in the Ortenau.
As a member of the umbrella association of the German Savings Banks and Giro Association and regionally in the SparkassenVerband Baden-Württemberg, it belongs to the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe .
Business area
The business area of Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau extends from Ringsheim in the south to Sasbach in the north, from Meißenheim in the west to Bad Peterstal in the east. The Sparkasse is represented locally with around 50 (self-service) branches. There are also four competence centers for corporate customers, investments and real estate in Achern , Lahr, Oberkirch and Offenburg.
The Sparkasse has 772 employees and looks after around 200,000 customers. Every year, an average of 20 young people begin training as bank clerks, financial assistants or dual studies.
history
Today's Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau was founded on December 26, 1836 in Oppenau . In the years 1836 to 1840, there was a first wave of Sparkasse foundations in Ortenau. The formerly independent savings banks, which are now part of the Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau association, also founded the Spar- und Kreditanstalt Achern, the Sparkasse der Stadt Offenburg and the Sparkasse der Stadt Lahr. Ultimately, three major mergers led to the creation of today's Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau:
The Sparkasse Renchtal and the District Savings Bank Offenburg founded the Sparkasse Offenburg-Oberkirch in 1992. The Bezirkssparkasse Achern and the Sparkasse Offenburg-Oberkirch merged in 1994 to form the Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau. The Sparkasse Lahr-Ettenheim merged with the Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau in 2001. In 2012 the Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau celebrated its 175th anniversary.
Social Commitment
Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau promotes charitable , sporting, social and cultural activities in the business area in the form of donations, direct sponsorship measures and contributions . In total, there were over 500 individual donations and 1,000 sponsorship agreements in 2018.
The Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau has established a legal foundation under civil law . It bears the name Sparkassenstiftung Offenburg / Ortenau . The purpose of the foundation is to promote the common good in the Sparkasse's business area.
A regional foundation - also a legal foundation under civil law - works with the cities and municipalities of the region. This is particularly expressed in the fact that every municipality in the business area of Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau has at least one member - usually the respective mayor - represented on the Board of Trustees . The regional foundation "pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes" and wants to "make an increased contribution to the development of the region of its business area". The regional foundation was endowed with an initial foundation capital of EUR 1 million in 2011, with a further EUR 500,000 added at the beginning of 2012. It is intended to promote charitable purposes with a regional focus. Since the regional foundation was established, 914 projects have been supported with a total of 11.2 million euros.
One focus of the commitment of the Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau is the promotion of young people and schools. This begins with the support of the traffic safety campaign "The little zebra on the way to school" with the school beginners. The accompaniment is continued with the project "Waldmobil", which aims to sensitize the children to a responsible approach to nature. Also, youth training for the Olympics and Young Musicians will be supported by the savings bank.
In 2018, Sparkasse Offenburg / Ortenau offered its customers in the region more than 70 different events. This included the annual PS gala in the Oberrheinhalle Offenburg, the concert with Max Raabe & Palast Orchester and the lecture event "What matters now in Germany and Europe" with the politician and lawyer Wolfgang Bosbach .
