The Berliner Palast Orchester was founded in 1986. It plays mostly pop - dance and popular music of the 1920s and 1930s.
history
The orchestra was founded in 1986 by twelve music students and was initially under the musical direction of Michaela Hüttich. The dance orchestras of the twenties and early thirties were used as models. Singer Max Raabe later also became the conductor of the orchestra.
The orchestra made its breakthrough in 1994 with its participation in the film The Moving Man and the song " No pig calls me" played there . Since then, numerous tours have followed through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands as well as Italy and the USA in 2004 and Japan in 2007.
There were also appearances at big balls such as the German Federal Press Ball , the Vienna Opera Ball 2000 and a separate palace revue , which was shown in the Berlin Wintergarten , in the Alte Oper Frankfurt , in the Deutsches Theater in Munich and in the Vienna Ronacher . In total, the orchestra has over 200 performances a year. The program is supplemented by numerous CD recordings.
The orchestra's repertoire includes hits from the 1920s and 1930s, most of which are played with the original cast. Among them Veronika, Lenz is there by Walter Jurmann and Fritz Rotter , A kiss after the shop closes ( Will Meisel , Charles Amberg , Günter Schwenn) or Men are already worth love (by Adolf Steimel and Ralph Maria Siegel ). The orchestra also plays new compositions (e.g. no pig calls me , cloning can be worthwhile ) and cover versions of current tracks (e.g. by Britney Spears or Shaggy ) in the 1920s style.
The orchestra was also seen in the film Nacht über Berlin , which was broadcast on February 20, 2013 on Erste .
