Johannes Ernst (musician)
Johannes Ernst (* 1963 in Warburg ) is a German saxophonist .
Life
Ernst studied classical saxophone at the Berlin University of the Arts and as a DAAD scholarship holder at the Bordeaux Conservatory with Jean-Marie Londeix . This was followed by engagements as a soloist with renowned orchestras, as a chamber music partner in numerous ensembles and as a lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin.
He mainly plays contemporary music and has premiered several works, including the saxophone concertos by Friedrich Cerha , Toshio Hosokawa and Philippe Hurel . He is also a sought-after orchestral musician, including with the Berlin Philharmonic . Since 1988 he has also been 1st alto saxophonist with Max Raabe and his Palast Orchester .
Johannes Ernst is involved as a member of the board of the German Saxophonists' Working Group on the organization of interpretation and composition competitions for saxophone.
