Jean-Marie Londeix

Jean-Marie Londeix (born September 20, 1932 in Libourne ( France )) is one of the most important representatives of the classical saxophone .

biography

Jean-Marie Londeix was born in Libourne , France, in 1932 . At a young age he received extensive musical training, which, in addition to the saxophone, also included instrumental lessons on the piano and the violin . From 1951 to 1953 he studied in the class of Marcel Mule at the renowned Paris Conservatory , which he was the first saxophonist to graduate with the highest distinction, the Prix d'Honneur.

After teaching at the Conservatory of Dijon in France for 18 years , he switched to the National Conservatory of Bordeaux and retired in 2001. During his long teaching career he trained many well-known saxophonists, including a. Richard Dirlam, Perry Rask, Russell Peterson, Ryō Noda , Nelly Pouget , James Umble, Ross Ingstrup and Nikola Lutz . He performed and recorded well over 250 world premieres of saxophone pieces composed for him.
