history

The Sparkasse Schwäbisch Hall-Crailsheim emerged from four predecessor institutions. The private savings association, founded in Schwäbisch Hall in 1852, was initially intended as a collection point for small and very small savings, mainly for the poorer and economically weak sections of the population and as an institute for investing public funds. Other predecessor institutions are the Oberamtssparkasse in Gaildorf, the Oberamtssparkasse Gerabronn and the Oberamtssparkasse Crailsheim, which was established in 1884.

By the Baden-Württemberg district reform law on July 26, 1971, the reorganization of administrative districts in Baden-Württemberg from 1 January 1973 was decided. As a result of the district reform on January 1, 1974, the district savings banks Schwäbisch Hall and Crailsheim merged. At the same time, the former Kreissparkasse Gaildorf, which had belonged to the Kreissparkasse Backnang since 1938, was integrated into the new Kreissparkasse Schwäbisch Hall-Crailsheim.

In 2002 the Sparkasse Schwäbisch Hall-Crailsheim, renamed at the beginning of 2001, celebrated its 150th anniversary. Another milestone was the construction of the service center of the Sparkasse Schwäbisch Hall-Crailsheim in Schwäbisch Hall-Hessental. The service center was completed in September 2003. The basic idea behind the new building was to unite six Sparkasse company buildings, which were distributed in and around Schwäbisch Hall, under one roof. All operating and control areas of the Sparkasse can now be found in one building.
