Christian Schmidt (born June 9, 1888 in Berlin ; † March 19, 1917 ) was a German football player .

Career

societies

Schmidt was a member of the BTuFC Britannia 1892 from 1905 to 1909 , for which he was used in the championships organized by the Association of Berliner Ballspielvereine . He did not win a title as a goalkeeper with the team and barely escaped relegation to 2nd class in the 1906/07 season .

From 1909 to 1912 he played for the Reinickendorf- based Berlin FC Concordia . After his first season, he was relegated with the team to the 2nd class, in which he completed two seasons.

Afterwards , when he got to Stuttgart , he played the 1912/13 season in the southern district , as one of four districts in which the respective championships in the round-robin tournament were held in the southern German football association , for FC Stuttgarter Cickers . At the unforeseen end of his football career, he won his first title with the Südkreis and Süddeutsche championships. The latter led to the fact that he played his only final game in the final round of the German championship, with the defeat on April 20, 1913 in the quarter-finals against Duisburg SpV with 1: 2.

National team

Schmidt played three international matches for the senior national team and made his debut on April 24, 1910 in Arnhem in the 2: 4 defeat against the national team of the Netherlands wearing the DFB jersey - at the same time as team captain . In 1913 he played his last two internationals, which were also lost. The first on March 21 in Berlin when they lost 3-0 to the England team and the second on May 18 in Freiburg im Breisgau when they lost 2-1 to the Swiss national team . In the last three international matches before the outbreak of the First World War , in which Schmidt fell as a soldier in 1917, he was no longer called up.
