Life

Because of the Iran-Iraq war , the family fled their homeland with Navíd, who was then four years old. They lived in the USA for some time, but since 1985 Navíd has lived in Germany with his father, mother and brother Omid, who is three years younger.

Navíd grew up trilingual (English, Persian, German) and got to know the stage and the audience very early through his father, a concert organizer. At the age of eight he began to dance on stage and performed more than 200 times in the opening act at various concerts. After his training at the Cologne drama school Center for Movement, Drama and Dance from 1999 to 2002, engagements in theater, film and television productions soon followed. He acted both in Shakespeare's Macbeth and as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet .

A leading role in Elmar Fischer's Stranger Friend earned him a 2003 nomination for the German Film Award in the Best Actor category . In the same year the film won the First Steps Award , the Digital Visions Award and the Filmz Mainz Audience Award .

Navíd Akhavan now lives in Cologne and is in a relationship with the photographer Yasmine Ghassemi.
