occupation

Borowski and the House of Spirits is a television film from the crime series Tatort . The report produced by NDR is the 1065th Tatort episode and was broadcast for the first time on September 2, 2018 on Das Erste . The Kiel commissioner Klaus Borowski is investigating his 32nd case. It is the first case for his new assistant Mila Sahin ( Almila Bagriacik ).

action

After a letter from his godchild Grete, Commissioner Klaus Borowski resumes the investigation into the case of Heike Voigt, who disappeared four years ago. She was the wife of his friend Frank Voigt, who was suspected at the time, but was acquitted for lack of evidence. When Borowski comes to visit, Voigt is initially happy to see you again after all these years. But he soon notices that Borowski still seems to think he was the culprit. The apparent family idyll is also deceptive. Sinja, Voigt's older daughter, wants to get rid of the new woman at the father's side, as she is increasingly taking on him. Sinja and her boyfriend Chris secretly try to drive Anna out of the house. The confused haunted actions of the two actually bring them close to madness and suicide. She asks Borowski to stay because the house supposedly wants to kill her. Borowski promises to get to the bottom of the ghost and suspects that Anna might know something about the circumstances of Heike Voigt's disappearance and should therefore be driven into suicide. Borowski is unexpectedly approached by Chris because he wants to tell the inspector a secret. Shortly afterwards, Chris is found dead in the forest. Forensics can clearly prove that the young man must have fallen out of the window of Sinja's room. During the house search carried out in the course of establishing the truth, Borowski finds utensils and equipment in the basement that explain Anna's ghostly apparitions. The police now assume that Frank Voigt probably killed his wife after all. During interrogation at the bureau, he admits that he had thrown his wife off the boat after he stabbed her in an argument. Chris would have found out about it through Sinja and blackmailed him. But Borowski has doubts and fears that Anna is still in danger. Together with his new assistant Mila Sahin, he drives to Voigt's property and arrives just in time to protect Anna, who is psychologically troubled by the whole process, from killing herself after all. When Sinja hears from Borowski that her father took the blame on himself, she makes a confession. She would have argued with Chris and he would have rushed out the window. Her mother would also have killed her in the affect on the yacht with a knife because she would have beaten her again, as so often. Together with her father, she would have eliminated the mother in the sea. His new wife Anna had helped cover up the crime, since she was Frank Voigt's girlfriend even then.

Reviews

Christian Buß from Spiegel Online said: “The sad thing about this 'crime scene' is how little those responsible trust the genre that they have chosen themselves. The mystery mood that they conjure up in the retro villa, both old-fashioned and cumbersome, is immediately revoked. "

In Spiegel.de we came to the conclusion: "This crime scene 'is absolutely not for the faint of heart. In 'Borowski and the House of Spirits' a mysterious case is paired with a dark design. A film that gets under your skin thanks to the pictures shown and the exciting story. "

Sidney Schering atquotemeter.de wrote: “Wiersch [understands] it in this film as far as possible […] to create a slowly cutting, subtly and ominous tension curve. And thanks to Elmar Fischer's directing, the implementation of this story feels like it has fallen out of time for long stretches - in a positive sense. After the stylish, slightly lurid prologue, which seems to have been borrowed from a modern horror film with its trembling music and striking cuts, Fischer shifts down a few gears. "

The Augsburger Allgemeine criticized: “Chief Commissioner Borowski doesn't really seem to fit into the script of 'Borowski and the House of Spirits', which actually has too many allusions. Borowski, who made himself popular with Tatort fans with his lack of social skills, is simply not made for the 'romantic thriller' genre. Accordingly, the hoped-for tension in the crime thriller is also absent. "
