Anam (German: “ my mother ”) is the first feature film by the German-Turkish filmmaker Buket Alakuş from 2001. The strip was produced by Desert Film , which also made Fatih Akın's first films .

The film is about a Turkish cleaning lady in Germany who breaks out of her limited world with her colleagues after her son has slipped into the drug scene and takes care of the junkies around her child.

“The story [...], despite the seriousness of the subject, also relies on humor - and at the same time depicts Anam's rescue mission as the emancipation story of an actually very traditionally oriented Turkish woman in Germany. The fact that this happens in the most striking and clichéd manner is something you have to ignore a first work. In any case, there is still a long way to go before a Fatih Akin can achieve a sense of style and originality. "
