Ralph Schwingel

Ralph Schwingel (* 1955 in Neunkirchen / Saar ) is a German film producer and co-founder of the Desert Film GmbH .

Life

After completing his psychology studies, Schwingel made his first documentary film as a writer and director in 1984. Since 1987 he has also been working as a producer with a focus on dramaturgy .

In 1993 Ralph Schwingel discovered the then 20-year-old Fatih Akın , with whom he made two short films in succession and in 1998 the multi-award-winning debut film Short and Painless . The 2003 film Gegen die Wand is also a result of their collaboration.

From 2006 to 2011 Schwingel held a visiting professorship for the subject “Creative Production” at the HFF “Konrad Wolf” in Babelsberg , from 2011 to 2013 a substitute professorship in the subject of screenplay / dramaturgy. In March 2015 he was appointed director and managing director of dffb to succeed Jan Schütte , but then withdrew his application.

Schwingel has also been working in psychotherapy and consulting since 2014, initially in the clinic for personality disorders at the Asklepios Klinik Nord in Hamburg, and since March 2017 in his own practice in the Hamburg Colonnaden.
