Kill me (original title Tue-moi ) is an internationally produced film drama directed by Emily Atef in 2012. The film is about death. A young person is looking for him - a violent criminal is supposed to help her find him. The dramaturgy is embedded in a classic road movie .

action

In the opening credits of the film, Adele stands on a ledge above a steep slope.

15-year-old Adele lives with her parents on a remote farm. There she comes under the control of the escaped prisoner Timo, who once murdered his father. Adele makes a pact with Timo. She treats him and helps him to escape, for which he should kill her. Together they set off. As soon as Timo is safe, he should throw Adele off a cliff, because she cannot take this step of her own accord.

Adele demands implementation several times, but Timo always delays the act that he does not want to commit. Since he needs her help first, he cannot leave her either. They flee into the woods. The police suspect the youths have been kidnapped and are on their heels. Now Timo needs you as a hostage to protect his life. Adele always stays with him because she hopes that her wish to be killed will be fulfilled.

The time they spend together gradually brings the protagonists closer emotionally. It turns out that Adele didn't come to terms with her brother's death. Adele gets sick and Timo takes care of her. Together they flee to Marseille to see Timo's brother, from whom he hopes for money and help.

In the last scene of the film, the two protagonists approach a ferry in the harbor - they continue their escape together.

criticism

The newspaper Die Welt comments: “… the escape route - mostly through light forests - does not always seem conclusive. But the impressive, defiant and vulnerable presence of the two main actors comforts many inconsistencies. "

The Germany radio says: "From the initial contract Kill me is a life- something better than death everywhere ."

The internet portal filmgazette.de sees the film negatively and notes that the protagonists “subsequently not only stumble through meadows and forests without a plan until all credibility is lost, but also through the edgy, bitter dialogues”.

Awards

The production has been nominated several times internationally. Maria-Victoria Dragus won the 2012 Transilvania International Film Festival for Best Actress .
