At the age of six, the son of a dancer and a musician came to Bremen with his family with the first wave of Turkish guest workers . Here he spent his further childhood. At a young age, Ergin began composing his first own melodies. He founded his first band at the age of 16. After graduating from high school, Ergin began studying to become a teacher , but finally decided on a career as a professional musician. At the age of 25 he was already known as a jazz guitarist in the scene through appearances with musicians such as Albert Mangelsdorff or Joachim Kühn .

To date there are well over a hundred productions in which Ergin has participated. He has worked with stars such as Ute Lemper , Michy Reincke and Katharina Franck , among others .

Ergin also produced music himself at an early age, for example the Low German music album by the Kiel duo Erichsen Must di ni agern in 1983 , for which he also composed, arranged and played the guitars. In 1986 he founded a music production with a studio in Hamburg . As part of this, he produced well-known advertising music and jingles for Mercedes , Sparkasse , Otto-Versand and RTL2, among others .

His first independent album as a solo guitarist was Beyond The Seven Hills (1996). This received an Echo nomination for “Best Jazz Production” and for a long time ranked in the world music charts of the music week .

The guitarist makes himself rather rare in concerts, but still had remarkable appearances, for example at the Strings of Fire Festival in Leipzig's Gewandhaus .

With Ergin Records , the musician founded his own music label in 2002 , under which he released his second solo album Tales from Enchanted Gardens (2003), among other things .

Music genre

Ergin's style of music can hardly be determined; it moves between areas as diverse as world music , classical music and jazz and processes elements of both western and oriental musical traditions.
