Dennis Appiah (born June 9, 1992 in Toulouse ) is a French soccer player of Ghanaian origin.
Club career
Appiah began playing football as a child in a lower-class club from Toulouse and played for another club in the southern French metropolis until he was accepted into the youth department of the professional club AS Monaco in 2007 at the age of 15 . There he made the jump to the reserve team in 2008 at the age of 16, even though he continued to play for the youth. With the signing of his first professional contract in 2010, he was formally promoted to the squad of the first division team in 2010, which competes in French football, although he was initially not used for this; instead, he continued to play alongside the second team for the A-youth , with whom he was able to win the Coupe Gambardella in 2011 .
This changed after the 2011 relegation to the second division, when the young player was on the field on August 1, 2011, the first day of the new season, in a 0-0 win against US Boulogne . This was followed in the first half of the season, while he was pushed out of the team in the second half of the season. In the 2012/13 season he played sporadic second division matches and achieved the win of the second division championship and the associated promotion. In view of the expiry of his contract in the summer of 2013, he had an offer from Monaco to extend it, but there were also offers from other clubs. Appiah decided to move to the second division SM Caen , where he immediately got a place in the first team. In 2014 he was promoted to the top French league, in which Appiah was set as a regular player in the following time.
In summer 2016 he moved to the Belgian first division club RSC Anderlecht for an estimated transfer fee of three million euros .
Appiah signed a four-year contract with French club FC Nantes for the 2019/20 season .
National team
Appiah had already belonged to the U-16s before taking part in the 2009 European Championships in Germany with the French U-17s . Then he went through the U-18 and U-19; for the U-20 he ran twice in the 2011/12 season, but was not considered for a national selection team again after that.
