Anthony Limbombe Ekango (born July 15, 1994 in Mechelen , Flanders ) is a Belgian football player who plays in the position of the striker .

Career

Club career

Anthony Limbombe played in his youth from 2005 to 2009 for the youth departments of various clubs, including KV Mechelen and KRC Genk . In 2009 Limbombe finally started his professional career at KRC Genk in the Belgian first division , with which he has been under contract since then. Limbombe made his league debut on September 18, 2010 in a 3-1 win over Sporting Lokeren . In 2014 Limbombe was awarded the Lierse SK within the first division .

In the 2014/15 season he moved to NEC Nijmwegen , which was then playing in the second highest Dutch league, the Eerste Divisie . In the following season, he was promoted to the Eredivisie . After two years Limbombe returned to Belgium for Club Bruges . In the 2018/19 season he played for the French club FC Nantes .

For the 2019/20 season he was loaned from Nantes to the Belgian first division company Standard Liège with a subsequent purchase option. After Limbombe was unable to play since mid-October 2019 due to a knee injury, the clubs agreed in mid-December 2019 to end the loan on December 31, 2019.

National team

Between 2010 and 2012 Limbombe had several appearances in Belgian youth national teams. On March 27, 2018, he played in the national team in a friendly against Saudi Arabia. After that, there were no further appearances in the national team until December 2019.
