Youri Tielemans (born May 7, 1997 in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw ) is a Belgian football player . He is under contract with Leicester City and is the current Belgian international .

origin

The Tielemans family is at home in Brussels . His mother has Congolese roots, was born in Brussels and grew up there.

Career

Tielemans has been playing for RSC Anderlecht since he was five. He made his debut in the first division on July 28, 2013 (1st matchday) in the home game against KSC Lokeren (2: 3), when he came on for Sacha Klještan in the 24th minute . On October 2, 2013, he made his Champions League debut against Olympiacos (0-3), making him the third youngest player and the youngest Belgian to have been used in this competition after Celestine Babayaro and Alen Halilović .

For the 2017/18 season , Tielemans moved to AS Monaco . At the end of May 2017, he signed a contract with a term until June 30, 2022. In his first season he made 27 premier league appearances under head coach Leonardo Jardim (18 times in the starting XI). In the 2018/19 season , Jardim and his successor Thierry Henry made 20 league appearances in the starting line-up by the end of January, in which he scored 5 goals.

At the end of January 2019, Tielemans initially moved to Leicester City on loan in the Premier League until the end of the 2018/19 season . In return, Adrien Silva moved to AC Monaco. In Leicester he quickly established himself as a regular player and came to 13 Premier League appearances (all in the starting XI) by the end of the season, in which he scored 3 goals. For the 2019/20 season , Leicester City finally acquired the transfer rights to Tielemans, who signed a new contract with a term until June 30, 2023.

National team

After Tielemans had previously played through various Belgian sub-teams, he made his debut for the senior national team on November 9, 2016 in a 1-1 friendly game against the Netherlands . He was part of the Belgian national team at the 2018 World Cup and was actually on the pitch in four of the seven Belgian games there.
