Kelechi Promise Iheanacho (born October 3, 1996 in Imo ) is a Nigerian soccer player . The striker is under contract with Leicester City in the English Premier League .
Career
societies
Before joining Manchester City's youth division, Iheanacho had played at Taye Academy in Owerri , Nigeria. For the 2015/16 season he moved up to the first team squad. He made his Premier League debut on August 29, 2015 , when he came on for Raheem Sterling in the 89th minute of the 2-0 win against Watford FC . On the following match day on September 12, 2015, he scored the winning goal in a 1-0 away win at Crystal Palace shortly after being substituted in the 90th minute of the game. On January 30, 2016, he scored his first hat trick for Manchester City in the FA Cup game against Aston Villa .
National team
Iheanacho made his debut in a U-17 national team of Nigeria on April 24, 2013, when the selection in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of America prevailed 4-2 against Tunisia and he entered the shooting list with one hit. In the same year he and his team were crowned at the U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates after they won the final against Mexico on November 8, 2013. He scored six goals in seven games at the tournament and was voted Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. He has been playing for the Nigerian U-20 team since 2015 . On November 15, 2015, he made his debut in a 0-0 win against Swaziland for the Nigerian national football team and scored his first international goal in the 1-0 win against Mali on May 27, 2016.
He was also part of the Nigerian squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where Nigeria was eliminated as third in Group D in the group stage. Iheanacho played from the start in the loss to Argentina and the win against Iceland and was substituted on in the loss to Croatia .
