Raheem Shaquille Sterling (born December 8, 1994 in Kingston , Jamaica ) is an English - Jamaican football player . The winger is under contract with Manchester City and plays for the English national team .

Club career

Liverpool FC

Sterling moved in February 2010 from the youth division of the Queens Park Rangers to the juniors of Liverpool FC . On March 24, 2012 he made his debut for the professional team of Liverpool FC in the Premier League against Wigan Athletic . At 17 years and 107 days, he was the second youngest player to appear for Liverpool in the Premier League. He was also used against Fulham FC and Chelsea FC on the last day of the 2011/12 season . From the 2012/13 season he was firmly in the professional squad of Liverpool and wore the number 31 on his shirt. In August 2012, Sterling made his first international appearance when he came on as a substitute for Joe Cole against FK Homel in the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League qualifier . The following week he scored his first goal for Liverpool in the friendly against Bayer 04 Leverkusen . He made his debut in the starting XI on August 23 against Heart of Midlothian . Three days later, he was also the first time in the Premier League in the starting line-up against Manchester City . On the 8th matchday of the 2012/13 season, Sterling scored his first goal and the winning goal against Reading FC . In total, Sterling completed 95 league games for Liverpool, in which he scored 18 goals.

Manchester City

For the 2015/16 season , Sterling moved to league rivals Manchester City . He signed a contract that runs until June 30, 2020. After six goals in the 2015/2016 season and 7 goals in the 2016/2017 season, he set a new personal best in the 2017/2018 season with 18 goals Premier League.

National team career

Sterling made international appearances for England's U-16, U-17 , U-19 and U-21 teams . He could also have played for Jamaica, his native country. On September 10, 2012, he was nominated for the first time for the senior team of England for a qualifier for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but was not used. On November 14, 2012, he made his debut in a friendly against Sweden . He was appointed to the English squad for the World Cup in Brazil and played his first World Cup game in the England team's opening match against Italy . Sterling scored his first goal for the senior national team on March 27, 2015 in a 4-0 win over Lithuania in qualifying for the 2016 European Football Championship .

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the English squad . In three of England's four games in the tournament he was on the starting line-up; In the round of 16 against Iceland, Sterling was fouled in the penalty area after a few minutes, and the following penalty kick initially put his team in the lead. The game was lost 2-1 and England were eliminated.

He was also a member of the 23-man squad of the English national team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. He played six of the seven games, where he managed one assist. The English national team lost in the game for third place 2-0 against Belgium.

After 27 games without scoring for the national team, he managed a brace in a 3-2 win over Spain in the UEFA Nations League.
