Patrick John Joseph Roberts (born February 5, 1997 in London ) is an English football player . The winger is under contract with Manchester City .

Career

societies

Born in the London borough of Kingston upon Thames , Roberts began his career at AFC Wimbledon and joined the youth department of Fulham FC in 2010 . Although he was still eligible to play for the A-Jugend at the time, he was on March 15, 2014 for the league game against Newcastle United for the first time in the first team's squad, but was not used. A week later, on March 22, 2014, he finally made his Premier League debut in the 5-0 defeat at Manchester City , after being substituted on for Alexander Kačaniklić in the 55th minute . At the end of the 2013/14 season Roberts rose with the club in the Football League Championship , in which he was used more often in the following season .

For the 2015/16 season Roberts moved to Manchester City . After he had only made one appearance in the first half of the season, he was awarded to the Scottish first division club Celtic Glasgow for a year and a half in February 2016 . On February 20, 2016, he made his debut in the 3-0 home win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Premiership. By the end of the season he contributed with six goals from eleven inserts to win the Scottish Championship . In the 2016/17 season Roberts won the cup , league cup and again the championship with Celtic . The loan was then extended for another year and Roberts won all national competitions with the club again. He returned to Manchester City in May 2018.

The 2018/19 season Roberts played on loan at FC Girona in the Primera División . He was loaned to Norwich City for the 2019/20 season, but the loan deal was ended early in January 2020 and Roberts was loaned to Middlesbrough FC until the end of the season.

National team

Roberts made his debut on September 27, 2012 in the 5-0 win against Northern Ireland for the U16 selection of the English Football Association . On August 28, 2013, he was used for the first time in the 3-1 defeat against Portugal for the U17 national team, with which he won the European Championship in Malta in the summer of 2014 . Roberts was used in all five games, scored three goals and was elected to the team of the tournament. On September 8, 2014, he ran for the first time for the U19 team in a 1-1 draw against Germany . In qualifying for the U19 European Championship in Greece in July 2015 , he scored his first goal in his first outing, a 3-0 win over Belarus , and was also able to score in the following games against Luxembourg (8-0) and Belgium (4: 2) get two or one hit.
