The finals of the 31st U-19 European Football Championship took place in 2015 in Greece . Greece was chosen as the host, together with the hosts for 2014 and 2016, at a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee in Istanbul on March 20, 2012 . It was the second time since 1995 , back then as the U-18 European Championship, that the finals took place in Greece.

qualification

The qualification for the tournament took place in two stages. The first qualifying round was followed by a second round, called the elite round . Greece qualified as hosts directly.

First round

The draw for the first round took place on November 28, 2013 in Nyon . Spain received a bye for the elite round in advance. The remaining 52 participants were divided into 13 groups of four teams. The group first and second as well as the best group third, for whose determination only the games against the two group first counted, reached the elite round in spring 2015.

Germany and Austria played in Group 2 in Latvia from 9 to 14 October 2014 against Latvia and Kazakhstan, Switzerland met in Group 6, from 13 to 18 November 2014 in Ireland to Ireland, Malta and Gibraltar, Liechtenstein joined in Group 8 in Macedonia against Bosnia-Herzegovina, France and Macedonia.

Elite round

The seven group winners of the elite round qualified for the final round. Germany won Group 2 from March 26 to March 31, 2014 in their own country with two wins against Ireland (3: 2) and the Czech Republic (6: 0) and one draw against Slovakia (1: 1). Austria hosted Group 6 and won the group ahead of Scotland, Italy and Croatia. Switzerland finished fourth in Group 4 behind the Netherlands (hosts), Serbia and Norway.

Attendees

Host Greece was automatically seeded for the finals. Thus there were seven more places that were awarded to the seven group winners of the elite round. The following teams were able to qualify (qualification path in brackets):

referee

Shortly before the European Championship, UEFA nominated six referees from six countries, who are supported by eight assistants. There are no fixed teams of referees and assistants. Two domestic referees from Greece, who are the fourth officials, complete the field of referees for the final round.
