Lukas Klünter (born May 26, 1996 in Euskirchen ) is a German football player . He is under contract with Hertha BSC .

Career

Klünter was born in Euskirchen and grew up in Erftstadt . He started playing soccer at SC Schwarz-Weiß Friesheim , a district club from Erftstadt, and continued at SSV Weilerswist before moving to the youth department of TSC Euskirchen for the 2013/14 season. For the 2013/14 season he was signed by Bonner SC , for whose A youth team he played 26 games in the West of the U-19 Bundesliga and scored one goal.

After one season he was signed by the league competitor 1. FC Köln , for whose A youth team he contributed to second place in 2014/15 with a goal in 21 league games. In the following season he moved up to the second team of Cologne and played seven point games in the fourth-class Regionalliga West . He made his senior debut on January 31, 2015 (19th matchday) in a goalless draw in the away game against KFC Uerdingen 05 .

Klünter made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 19 on April 3, 2016 (28th matchday of 2015/16 ), when he came on for Simon Zoller in the 76th minute in the 1-1 away game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . In the 2016/17 season he played five more Bundesliga games for 1. FC Köln, starting on April 4, 2017 (27th matchday) in a 1-0 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt , his second Bundesliga game and was used for 90 minutes. At the beginning of May 2017, Klünter extended his contract term to 2020. In the 2-2 draw in the Rheinderby against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on May 13, 2017, the 33rd match day, he scored his first Bundesliga goal with the goal to make it 2-0.

After 1. FC Cologne was relegated from the Bundesliga, Klünter moved to Hertha BSC for the 2018/19 season . In his first season, he only played ten league games - also because of an injury he suffered in November 2018.

National team

He made his debut in the national jersey on March 26, 2015 for the German U-19 national team , which played 1-1 in Mannheim in the European Championship qualifier against Slovakia . He took part in the U-19 European Championship , which was held in Greece from July 6th to 9th, 2015 , played all three group matches and was eliminated from the tournament in fourth place.

For the U-20 national team , he played his first international match on September 7, 2015 in Włocławek in the 2-1 defeat against Poland in an international round. At the U-21 European Championship 2017 in Poland, Klünter won the title with the German U-21 as a substitute player, without having been used in the tournament.
