from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Grundwassertal - Hollmecker Bachtal with a size of 89.9  hectares is located southwest of Titmaringhausen in the urban area of Medebach . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2003 with the Medebach landscape plan. The NSG is also part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht (DE-4717-401).

Area description

The groundwater valley and the Hollmecker Bachtal are located in the NSG. The valley floor is always a grassland area. There is a beech forest on the partly steep valley slopes . There are numerous endangered plant species in the NSG.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the valley areas with their species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area was declared a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
